Charles Darwin in the book ‘The Descent of Man’ had said that “Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.”

The more you know about something, the less scared you are. Knowledge is a powerful tool in every aspect of life. Consciously or subconsciously we all have moved forward in life by learning new things as we grow up, but, as time passes, life instils us with fears and we take a step back and then two steps back and so on until we realize that we have stopped moving forward altogether. We are afraid of the problems that lie ahead in our path. The fear of the unknown! Somehow we have forgotten the basic rules of mathematics we were taught as kids in school, the solution lies in the problem itself! This is also true in life. We have to ask ourselves the ‘what’, ‘why’ and ‘how’ of every problem in life. ‘What’ is it that I want to achieve? ‘Why’ is it important to me? ‘How’ can I get it? Be it a thing in career prospects like a degree, a job, money and so on or in personal growth like happiness or inner peace, an answer will present itself if we ask the right questions. I have created this page with this intent in mind. ‘Jaankari’ means information and ‘Potpourri’ means a mixture or medley of things. There are a medley of little things I know about, a lot from my experiences in life, some from my likes and dislikes.

I have cleared the graduate level exam for recruitment in the central government three times and worked in the department for 5 years now. So, I assume this makes me qualified enough to know a few things about government jobs, the structure and work culture of the department. I initially started to write to share whatever knowledge I have in this field, but “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. So I started writing about other things too. Because it’s fun and keeps me going. And the research and analysis that goes into writing about any topic, even if it’s entertainment related, is worth it in the end. I learn something new everyday.

असतो मा सद्गमय ।

तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय ।

मृत्योर्माऽमृतं गमय ॥

Lead me from ignorance to truth.

Lead me from darkness to light.

Lead me from death to immortality.
